“Telling Their Stories” Exhibit Highlights Inner Strength

BASTROP, TX, March 12, 2019—View the powerful photography of Karen and Steve Jackson at the Lost
Pines Art Center in Bastrop, Texas from March 8th through April 7th, 2019. The “Telling Their Stories”
exhibit features beautiful, dramatic images highlighting the inner strength of individuals despite the
obstacles life puts in their way. The exhibit stars real people living in Bastrop County, and 50% of all sales
will be donated to the Comfort Cafe in Smithville, Texas or the Austin Prosthetic Center.
Karen and Steve believe, “that everyone has obstacles they must overcome: age, illness, self-esteem,
the list is limitless. However, there is an inner strength in all individuals despite these obstacles.” That is
what the exhibit “Telling Their Stories” is all about – the human will to overcome, no matter the odds.
The Jacksons use real world locations and props to turn backdrops into dreamlike places that produce a
wide array of emotional reactions for viewers. Some images are quiet, while others almost create a
frenzy for the observer.

The final edited images are nothing like the images straight out of the camera. Compositing, editing,
textures, and tonal changes all aid to create a final product that is surreal and captivating. They
encourage viewers to analyze the images, ask questions, and create dialogue among others who may
interpret the images differently.

There will be a reception for Karen and Steve Jackson on Saturday, Apr. 6th from 5:30-7:30pm at the Lost
Pines Art Center, located at 1204 Chestnut Street in Bastrop, Texas. Wine and refreshments will be
served.
