Each student receives a 4×4 tile and a domino will be included for the students to practice on.
I will demonstrate how to 1) paint a background which can be embellished using a paint brush 2) how to paint an abstract and 3) how to paint a landscape. These techniques will be on a 4×4 tile. Instruction will include amount of alcohol ink to use, how to manipulate the ink by use of brush, canned air or just by moving the tile.
At the end, the student will put a finish on both pieces and they will be ready to take home. The domino can be worn as a necklace.
Gaila Hitt’s art journey started later in life. Working as an accountant for many years, she wanted to add relaxation and creativity to her stressful, hectic life.
Moving from California to Austin, Texas, in 2005, she met an art teacher, from New York, where she learned oil painting and drawing.
Now retired, she finds much more time to explore many different types of mediums and styles. Today, Gaila works primarily in alcohol inks and acrylics with a representational and abstract style. “I love the fluidity and surprises of both alcohol inks and acrylics. There is no limit to what you can do with these mediums.”
Moving to Bastrop, Texas, in 2016, she met an artist who suggested she join the Lost Pines Art Center. It was here she took advantage of learning more artistic methods and networking with the local artists. Her work is currently being shown at Lost Pines Art Center.
