It’s All About Acrylics! (POSTPONED)

3 Sessions, March 14th, 16th, and 18th, from 10am-Noon. All supplies provided. Cost: $95

High School level painting class with acrylic paint on canvas.  Some drawing experience needed.  Beginning through advanced painters welcome.

This is a hands-on approach in learning about:

*Paint

*Mixing colors

*Types of brushes and uses for each

*Canvas and demo on how to stretch one

*Basic composition and how to find the best design

*Creating paintings.

The class will be 3 sessions with time to work on paintings at home during “off” days.  We will start with some basic abstraction while playing in paint, then graduate to a realistic piece as a final product.

Students should bring 3 or more photographs with them that they think would make a good painting.  Working from these pictures, we will make magic appear on canvas!  The Art Center will have photos on hand if needed.

Debbie’s Story: Debbie’s Story: Debbie has taught all grade levels, but teaching art to high school students became her long lasting career. She was the Art Department Head at a large school in Indianapolis, as well as an evening adjunct college professor for future secondary teachers. Debbie was an initiator, writer and teacher of the gifted program at the high school level and was a Prelude Award Indiana Arts Educator of the year. She received a nice Wal-Mart Award for education one year. She was also became a Stutz Art and Business Center (Indianapolis) artist.  In her retirement, Debbie continues her life’s work and passion of inspiring young minds in Bastrop, giving them the tools they need to be fearless and prolific in their artistic journey.
