Louise Placek, Youth Instructor
Kids Mixed Media Art
Summer is here! We are offering 2 age levels of each class from June 18th-June 20th. Kids can take just one day, or get a discount if they take all three! The first day will be all about Monoprinting; a versatile and fun art form, allowing kids to transfer their own drawn image from a gelatin to paper, ready to take home. The second and third days will cover different approaches to creating Mixed Media art works. Students will learn that almost anything, including everyday items and components from nature, can be incorporated into paintings and drawings to make a unique piece of art that is truly their own. The projects in each class will be tailored to better suit each student, depending on age. All supplies are provided.

Louise learned to love art at an early age. Her artist mother taught her and her siblings to draw, paint, sculpt and create art from nothing. Every summer, she gave them specific lessons, from art history to forming clay into masterpieces. As a young adult while attending UT, and with small children of her own, she found time to explore many forms of art including the traditional form of batik (wax and dye). Through a local art organization in Buda she began offering unique, free art projects for kids at the local library, and later taught regularly in their summer programs. A curve ball took them to Houston for two years (husband had a heart transplant) and after his surgery she dove deeply into mixed media to relieve the stress and anxiety associated with his illness and recovery. They are now back in the central Texas area (Bastrop) and Louise is looking forward to working with kids through the Lost Pines Art Center and exploring new creative outlets for herself.
Refunds or credits will only be issued for class cancellations or postponements.
