Class taught by published author Jeffrey Stayton, Ph.D.

Writing Your Memoirs

Learn to find the seminal events in your life that will elevate your experience into compelling prose. Through a process of remembering, reimagining, and recording the past, this class will help you narrow the focus of your life story to excavate its underlying themes and meaning. We will consider personal essays and memoirs that will serve as models for own work and explore the elements of fiction—characterization, dialogue, and scene—that will bring your key experiences to life on the page. This class will focus on the short-form memoir.

In this class, you will draft, rewrite, and complete a substantial piece of work.

Bring yourself and take notes.  A journal is recommended.  (Please don’t bring manuscripts)
